We Are Building Again
Motif Design is the first agent-native, open, collaborative BIM platform built for modern teams

Just under three and a half years ago, an intrepid band of believers started Motif to build something special for the people who build the world around us.
The buildings have moved firmly into the 21st century: more ambitious, more complex, held to standards that didn't exist a generation ago. The software they're designed on was conceived in the 20th. That gap is where the hours disappear. We are designing 21st century buildings with 20th century tools.
The obvious response is the one the industry is already reaching for: keep the old tools and bolt AI onto the side. Wire a model up to legacy software through a connector, add a chat panel, call it intelligent. It demos well. It doesn't work. An AI reaching into a thirty-year-old application sees the model through a keyhole, a handful of exposed functions, half the data out of view. It waits on software that was paced for one person clicking, one task at a time. And it inherits every flaw of the foundation beneath it: add AI to systems that are slow, closed, and single-user, and you get slow, closed, single-user AI. A chatbot bolted to the old arrangement doesn't change the arrangement. It just gives it a sidebar.
So we built Motif Design. Not legacy BIM with a fresh coat of paint, not old tools bundled together and retrofitted to look new, but a new, trusted platform for modeling and design. It's architected from the ground up for how we build today and made to take full advantage of what's now possible.
This week, we reveal it to the world.
Motif Design is the intelligent platform for building design, made for the way the industry works now. At its core, it is:
- Agent-native. Motif Design scales design teams with AI agents. Agents take on the routine work, the laying out, the scheduling, the drafting and documentation that consume weeks of every project. They capture and apply specialized expertise, the kind that lives in your firm's best people and too often leaves with them. And at every step they act as a thought partner: generating options, testing designs against requirements, researching vendors, reviewing the work before it goes out.
- Open. Motif works with the world you already run on. We're not asking you to abandon everything on day one: Motif Design streams live from Revit and Rhino without exporting or converting, handles IFC and other formats, and reaches the project data that lives outside the model. Your tools, your data, your way of describing a building, respected rather than replaced.
- Collaborative. The whole team designs in one place. A dozen disciplines, architecture, structure, and the systems that run through a building, working in one shared design at the same time, instead of trading files and reconciling them later. People and agents, side by side in the same model.
It is genuine, parametric, associative BIM. Not a simplified, prismatic representation of geometry. Move the core, rework a floor plate, or update a floor plan with a client in the room, and every plan, section, model, and sheet updates instantly.
And all of it at speed and scale. A modern, cloud- and browser-based foundation where your team designs, edits, and visualizes changes and renderings in real time, whatever the size, complexity, or length of the project.
We built this to bring designers back to the reason they chose this work. Architecture has always been where art and science meet, and Motif Design lets architects, engineers, and designers spend their time there again, on the craft and the ideas, not the busywork the old tools created.
Because buildings are more than buildings. They are the schools, the hospitals, and the homes where our lives take place. The people who build our world deserve tools worthy of the work: tools that meet this moment to design the buildings, cities, and landmarks of the next generation.
