Inside Your Models: September Feature Drop

Last month, we introduced sectioning so you could slice through your models and see inside your designs. We improved navigation controls so you could move through your models more intuitively. The theme was clear: helping you investigate and understand your models better.

This month continues that mission with our latest feature: the scene browser. Now you can control exactly which parts of your model are visible, isolating specific elements or building systems to focus your design conversations exactly where they need to be.

Why Professional Model Control Matters

Every architect has been there: you're deep in a design review, explaining a complex spatial relationship, and you need to isolate specific building elements to make your point clear. In traditional CAD software, this means interrupting the conversation, diving into menus, and hoping everyone stays engaged while you wrestle with visibility controls.

Professional design work demands professional model control—but it shouldn't require professional-level software complexity. The scene browser brings that control directly into the collaborative environment where your conversations actually happen.

What's New This Month

Scene Browser: Professional Model Control, Simplified

Our new scene browser brings the model control you're used to from Revit and Rhino directly into Motif's collaborative environment. Toggle individual architectural elements or entire categories—stairs, windows, structural components—instantly. Isolate design areas for focused reviews. Turn visibility on and off, lock objects in place, all without the complexity and bottlenecks of traditional CAD software.

This isn't just about hiding elements. It's about conducting better design reviews. When you can instantly isolate the building systems you're discussing, you can see properties of building elements, and conversations stay focused and everyone understands what's being explored.

Click-Drag Sizing for Images and Viewports

When placing images and viewports on your boards, you can now click and drag to size them during placement. It sounds simple, but it's the type of thing you can really feel. It just makes sense. No more placing, then resizing, then repositioning. Get the layout right from the first placement.

Share Links to Individual Frames

Need to send a colleague to a specific spot on a board? You can now share direct links to individual frames. Whether you're referencing a particular detail in an email or guiding someone to the exact view you're discussing, sharing becomes effortless and precise.

The Details That Make the Difference

We also shipped various bug fixes and small improvements that make your quality of life better. Not every release makes headlines, but every feature is intentional. The small improvements often make the biggest difference in your daily workflow.

This is the philosophy behind our monthly releases: major features grab attention, but the accumulated impact of thoughtful details creates software that feels essential rather than useful.

Another Consistent Monthly Release

Our monthly releases demonstrate something important: when software responds to real workflow needs, it doesn't just improve productivity—it changes how teams think about design collaboration.

The progression from sectioning to navigation improvements to scene browser isn't arbitrary—it reflects a natural evolution in how teams explore and understand their designs. Each capability builds on the last, creating tools that feel essential rather than just useful.

Building the Future Together

Motif isn't software we build for the design community—it's software we build with the design community. Every monthly release proves that the fastest path to essential tools runs through genuine collaboration between makers and users.

Your willingness to share detailed feedback, test new capabilities, and push the boundaries of what's possible makes this development velocity sustainable. We're not guessing what architects need; we're responding to what you show us matters most.

Ready to Experience September's updates?

These features are live in your Motif workspace now. If you're not yet part of the community helping shape the future of design collaboration, there's never been a better time to join.
